Question:341 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when payments for the 2000 ewe cull scheme will issue. [29245/00]

The Deputy is referring to the payments due this year arising from the 30% ewe cull in 1998. I have been keen to ensure that all this compensation is paid in time for Christmas and to this end payments are scheduled to begin issuing from my Department today, and they will all have issued by the end of this week.
