377 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received a request for funding from the proceeds of the National Lottery from the North Kildare Club, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29473/00]

A grant of £40,000 was provisionally allocated to this club under the 1998 sports capital programme. The grant will be confirmed and payment made when all of the outstanding documentation is received in my Department.

A further request for funding was submitted by the club under the 2000 sports capital programme and following assessment of this application it was not among those grant assisted under the 2000 round of grant allocations.

I intend to announce details of the 2001 sports capital programme shortly and in the event of an application being received from the club, it will receive every consideration.
