Question:

394 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will take steps to have a home school liaison officer appointed to a secondary school (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29304/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 386 and 394 together.

All second level schools which have been designated as disadvantaged have been invited to participate in the home-school-community liaison scheme this year and have been allocated additional teaching resources to facilitate their participation.

I can assure the Deputy that the position of this school will receive full consideration in the context of any future review of the disadvantaged and home-school-community liaison schemes.
