Vol. 528 No. 3

Written Answers. - Sale of Trustee Savings Bank.

Nora Owen

Question:

107 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Finance if savers with the Trustee Savings Bank will receive any dividend or bonus when the sale of Trustee Savings Bank to a company (details supplied) is completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30123/00]

The question of shares for savers only arises in the case of organisations such as mutual building societies which are owned by the customers. This does not apply in the case of TSB. The proceeds from the sale will accrue to the Exchequer which will benefit all taxpayers.
