Question:

62 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the total moneys expended by his Department or any office under the aegis of his Department in respect of public relations costs in the past three years; the public relations firms involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30351/00]

No public relations costs were incurred by my Department during the period in question. Drury Communications were engaged under the terms of the Referendum Act, 1998 to provide information to the electorate in relation to the referendum on the Amsterdam Treaty. A management fee of £199,423 was paid to Drury Communications. In addition, costs of £1,852,971 were paid through Drury Communications for the provision of services of various suppliers and sub-contractors which they engaged for advertising, administration, broadcasts, postage, printing, etc.
