Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hearing Aid Test.

John Perry

Question:

660 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will intervene with the National Rehabilitation Board on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and ensure that she is called for her hearing aid test; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1725/01]

Until June 2000 aural services were provided by the National Rehabilitation Board, NRB. Following the dissolution of the NRB, the Northern Area Health Board took over responsibility for the service pending its transfer to individual health boards. I understand from the Northern Area Health Board that the individual referred to by the Deputy is listed for assessment between 12 and 15 February 2001. Appropriate hearing aids, if deemed necessary, will be provided within four weeks of this assessment.
