Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

950 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused payment in respect of the ewe cull scheme. [1311/01]

According to the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, this person has been participating in the rural environment protection scheme, REPS, since 1997. Under REPS, payments are made for farming in an environmentally sustainable manner, and issues taken into account include stocking levels. Since farmers in REPS are already compensated under that scheme, they are not due compensation under the scheme operated by my Department.
