Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Electronic Government.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

1097 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation his plans for the development and encouragement of e-government in 2001, and the amount of money included in his Department's Estimate for this purpose in 2001. [1570/01]

My Department is fully committed to participating in e-government strategies and to ensuring that the benefits of the information society are utilised to improve quality customer services. Initiatives currently being taken in the Department include further development of the Department's website and the enhancement of the on-line application facility for the sports capital grant scheme. The Department is currently reviewing potential for further e-government initiatives and final provision of funding to support the development of the strategy for the coming year will be determined in the context of the finalisation of the 2001 Revised Estimates.
