Question:

1203 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application from the board of management of a school (details supplied) in Dublin 24 for the purposes of providing a perimeter fence; the level of funding which his Department can sanction for such projects; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1769/01]

My Department has received an application from the school authorities referred to by the Deputy for a perimeter fence and resurfacing of the play area My Department's building unit is processing the application as quickly as possible having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand within the building unit.

The project will be grant-aided at a rate of 90% of the contract amount. A local contribution of 10% – subject to a maximum of £25,000 – will be required. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
