Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Michael Creed

Question:

1292 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a report from Bus Éireann concerning a person (details supplied) in County Cork and his entitlement to free school transport. [2316/01]

The position generally is that where a school is closed and amalgamated with another school, children in the closed school area are eligible for free transport to the school of amalgamation only.

The pupil, referred to by the Deputy, is not attending the amalgamated school and accordingly is not deemed eligible for school transport under the terms of the primary school transport scheme. Concessionary fare-paying transport has already been offered to the pupil to the school of attendance.

Question No. 1293 answered with Question No. 1118.
