224 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the discussions the Government has had with the US authorities regarding the designation by the US of the Real IRA as a terrorist organisation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27499/00]
Discussion has taken place at official level with the US authorities on the question of the designation of the Real IRA under relevant US law as a foreign terrorist organisation. The proposed designation is currently under consideration by the US authorities and the Deputy will appreciate that it would not be appropriate to go into any more details at this time.
