Vol. 529 No. 4

Written Answers. - Donegal Task Force Initiative.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

63 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the position regarding to the implementation of the recommendations of the Donegal Task Force Initiative Report; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26829/00]

The development of the strategies to give effect to the recommendations in the task force report is being progressed by the Donegal County Development Board. The objective is to devise an integrated strategic plan for the development of the county. The various sectoral groups, established by the board and covering such areas as inward investment, indigenous enterprise development and infrastructure, are working towards a December 2001 deadline for completion of their contributions to the strategic plan. The intention also, I understand, is to include the social development of the county within the plan covering such areas as language, sport, cultural activities, and social inclusion initiatives.

In parallel with this work the development agencies continue with their efforts to create and promote employment opportunities within the county.
