Question:

101 Dr. Upton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will provide funding to allow employees have time off to attend literacy classes. [2954/01]

Paid education leave for literacy and other training is one of the issues under discussion in the Taskforce on Lifelong Learning, which was established under the aegis of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. The task force is comprised of members of the social partners, Departments and State agencies, and will report to Government on a wide range of issues related to lifelong learning in the coming months.
