Vol. 530 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Liam Aylward

Question:

171 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will examine the case of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who has special needs but for whom no such facilities are available in his school. [3281/01]

I understand that the pupil referred to by the Deputy currently attends the school in question on a half-day basis.

My Department has sanctioned a special needs assistant post to enable this pupil to avail of full-time education and to cater for his special educational needs.

The school authorities have advised that the special needs assistant post will be filled very shortly and full-time education will then be available to the child.
