Vol. 530 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

129 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science when a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will receive payment of mileage subsidies for providing school transport for their children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3444/01]

My Department offers remote area grants towards the cost of private transport arrangements, for eligible primary pupils who live remote from their nearest school, and from transport services to that school. The distance requirement for the grant has been reduced from three miles to two miles with effect from January of this year.

The grant is normally claimed at the end of a school year. A claim form will be issued shortly to the family in question.
