17 Ms McManus asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the discussions he has had with coastal communities regarding possible locations for the Loran-C navigation mast; when a final decision will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3344/01]

Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. Fahey):

There has been no change in the position since I replied to a previous question on 28 November 2000. I can give no indication at this stage when a final decision may be made, but I am anxious that this project would be proceeded with as soon as possible to fulfil our international commitments.
