32 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans he has to announce a new scheme of grants under the whitefish renewal programme; and if a new scheme will also be introduced for safety equipment on fishing vessels. [3226/01]
My Department and BIM are finalising the detailed schemes of investment support for the renewal, modernisation and safety of the whitefish fleet under the productive sector operational programme. The enhancement of the safety, quality and competitiveness of the whitefish fleet remains the overall objective and the schemes will continue to target operational safety, working conditions, efficiency, handling and quality. I will announce details of the schemes shortly.
