Vol. 530 No. 3

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Seamus Healy

Question:

139 Mr. Healy asked the Minister for Finance the position in relation to the flood alleviation schemes for Carrick-on-Suir and Clonmel, County Tipperary; if he will agree to a new quay wall for the Carrick-on-Suir scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3834/01]

The preparation of a drainage scheme for Clonmel, County Tipperary is progressing well and it is envisaged that the scheme will reach public exhibition stage this spring. Works on a drainage scheme for Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary are expected to commence on site next month. As it is possible to carry out remedial works on the existing quay wall at Carrick-on-Suir under the Suir River (Carrick-on-Suir) drainage scheme, the provision of a new quay wall does not arise.
