Vol. 530 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

263 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) in County Donegal, who was approved three and a half hours of resource teaching for September 2000, has not, six months on, received this sanctioned time; and when this person will receive her full allocation of resource teaching; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3525/01]

The pupil in question is on the caseload of a resource teacher who is catering for a number of children with special needs in the area.

My Department recently sanctioned an increase in the level of resource teaching support provided for the pupil in question and an allocation of 12.5 hours per week special needs assistant support for the child. In addition, funding of £1,500 has been allocated to facilitate the purchase of a computer for use by the child.
