Vol. 530 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

John McGuinness

Question:

272 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the reasons for the delay in paying the proper salary increment to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who is a teacher at Loreto School, Kilkenny, and whose claim dates back ten years; when this payment will be made; and the reason the matter was not dealt with by the Department following contact with the person concerned. [3594/01]

An application for incremental credit in respect of teaching service with a vocational education committee in the 1988-89 and 1989-90 school years was received from the teacher concerned in December, 2000.

In accordance with normal procedure, confirmation of this service was sought from the VEC in question. The necessary confirmation was received recently and the claim for incremental credit is being processed. The appropriate credit will be awarded and arrears of salary due will be paid to the teacher concerned as soon as possible.
