Vol. 530 No. 3

Written Answers. - Excise Duty.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

127 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance his proposals to remove or rebate excise duty on non-automotive fuels used for heating purposes in the poultry sector (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3539/01]

I have no such plans. There are EU minimum rates of excise duty for diesel, kerosene and LPG used for industrial and commercial purposes. The EU Commission has proposed substantial increases in existing EU minima in its energy tax proposal.
