40 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Defence the number of fishing vessels boarded, detained and warned by the Naval Service during the year 2000; and the number of foreign registered, by nationality, and Irish owned vessels under each heading. [3643/01]
A total of 1,282 boardings and 46 detentions were carried out and 158 warnings issued by Naval Service personnel, arising from their fishery protection role, during the year 2000.
