Vol. 530 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

155 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 300 of 23 May 2000, he will report on the proceedings against six persons (details supplied) accused of physical and sexual abuse in a residential home (details supplied) in County Galway; the status of the proceedings in each case; if he will further report on any deferrals of hearings in this regard; the reason for such deferrals in each instance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4408/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the criminal proceedings in question are currently before the courts.

I regret that it has not been possible to obtain all the details required by the Deputy in the time available. I will contact her again when the information is to hand and I expect to be in a position to do this quickly.
