Written Answers. - Family Friendly Work Practices.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

138 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the way in which her Department intends to mark the family friendly workplace day on 1 March 2001; the initiatives she has in this area; and the way in which family friendly initiatives are being implemented for the staff in her Department. [4713/01]

The Department intends to highlight the family friendly workplace day on 1 March, 2001 by informing all staff about the day. A wide range of family friendly initiatives have been introduced and are widely available in the Civil Service.

The family friendly schemes available in the Department are flexitime, job sharing term time, parental leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, adoptive leave, career breaks and special leave, such as compassionate leave. These arrangements have been agreed centrally between staff representative associations and the Department of Finance.
