Vol. 530 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Donal Moynihan – the need to discuss Commissioner Fishler's recent seven-point proposals to deal with the BSE crisis; (2) Deputy Rabbitte – the need to address the difficulty being experienced by primary schools in the West Tallaght area in attracting trained teachers and the exodus of trained teachers from schools designated disadvantaged; (3) Deputy Stanton – the need to make funds available to prevent the imminent closure of the Youghal and District Community Development Project; (4) Deputy Owen – the need for additional funding to vol untary schools for cleaning services, secretarial, caretaking and insurance services; (5) Deputy Sheehan – the proposals to deal with funds which have lain dormant in the courts for fifteen years by taking them into central funds; (6) Deputy Jim Higgins – the recent train crash at Kiltoom, County Roscommon, and a similar incident eight weeks earlier; (7) Deputy Naughten – the recent rail incident at Kiltoom, County Roscommon; (8) Deputy Perry – the need to condemn works being undertaken at and around megalithic tombs at Carrowmore, County Sligo; (9) Deputy Creed – the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 817 for written answer on 30 January 2001, and the information contained therein which shows that the level of funding received by Cork County Council is discriminatory and entirely inadequate; (10) Deputy Fitzgerald – the urgent need for action to address the crisis in child care places; (11) Deputy Power – the issue of the bombing of Iraq last week.

The matters raised by Deputies Rabbitte, Power, Jim Higgins, and Naughten have been selected for discussion.
