Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

301 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he or his Department have responded to Kildare County Council's financial requirements in respect of road and bridge realignment at Bond Bridge, Maynooth, County Kildare; if the necessary funds are now available to the local authority to facilitate the immediate implementation of the project; if he has approved the plans; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4696/01]

I recently announced a non-national road grant allocation of over £19.708 million in 2001 for Kildare County Council. This represents an increase of 111% on the 2000 allocation.

This allocation included £1.65 million under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme. The council sought funding for six projects under this scheme in 2001, which did not include a proposal for the Bond Bridge, Maynooth. All of the six submitted schemes have been allocated funding in 2001.
