333 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the authorities, agencies, organisations and institutions established by legislation which are ultimately accountable to her Department and which deal with issues which were once the responsibility of her Department; the year of their establishment; the most recent annual budget of each body; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The relevant agencies established by legislation are as follows:

Institution: Waterways Ireland

Legislation: British Irish Agreement Act, 1999

Transferred responsibility: Maintenance of the connected inland waterways network.

Year of establishment: 1999

Budget 2001: £25 million.

Institution: Foras na Gaeilge – an agency of An Foras Teanga/The North-South Language Body.

Legislation: British Irish Agreement Act, 1999

Transferred responsibility: Maintenance of the connected inland waterways network.

Year of establishment: 1999

Budget 2001: Total budget of £13.5 million is provided for Foras na Gaeilge of which £10.125 million comes from the Irish Exchequer.

Institution: Heritage Council.

Legislation: Heritage Act, 1995.

Transferred responsibility: Responsibilities for funding heritage projects and administration transferred from the non-statutory National Heritage Council to the new Heritage Council.

Year of establishment: 1995

Budget 2001: £7.486 million.
