Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licences.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

110 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the position regarding a foreshore licence for the proposed submarine pipeline from the Corrib Gas Field to the mainland. [4426/01]

An application was made by Enterprise Energy Ireland, EEI, to my Department for a foreshore licence in respect of this project and details of the project, together with an environmental impact statement, went to public consultation on 23 November last and this process was advertised in national and local print media. The public consultation period ended on 23 December and a number of submissions were received from interested parties. These sub-missions and the response of EEI to them are currently under consideration in my Department. A substantial amount of supplementary information will be required and it is likely that EEI will publish this supplementary information and that it will also go to public consultation.

In addressing this issue in response to supplementary questions to Questions Nos. 6, 7 and 14 on 8 February, I inadvertently misinformed the House and I am pleased to have this opportunity to correct the record.
