Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licences.

Michael Ring

Question:

124 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if a foreshore licence application has been submitted by Mayo County Council for proposed works at Roigh Pier, Rockfleet, Newport, County Mayo; and if so, the position in this regard. [4818/01]

In November 2000, Mayo County Council submitted revised plans to my Department in connection with its application for a foreshore lease for a proposed turning and parking area at Roigh Pier. In December 2000, the council was requested to publish notice of its proposal in the Mayo News. The council did so in January 2001.

A number of submissions were received and these were forwarded to the council for comment before a report is made to me by my Department. That report will detail the county council's proposal, the consultation process that has been gone through, the submissions received and a commentary thereon. It will also recommend whether a foreshore lease should be granted and, if so, the conditions to which it should be subject.

Questions Nos. 125 and 126 answered with Question No. 113.
