Vol. 531 No. 1

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Orders.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

107 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will reply to Galway County Council who has applied for a letter of confirmation concerning a compulsory purchase order for a derelict site at Williamstown, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5038/01]

Galway County Council has applied for my consent for the compulsory acquisition of this property under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990. The functions of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990, were transferred to An Bord Pleanála under the Planning and Development Act, 2000. Section 267 of these provisions came into effect on 1 January 2001 as a consequence of the making of the Planning and Development Act (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 2000. Any inquiries in this matter should, therefore, be referred to An Bord Pleanála as I no longer have any function in the matter.
