150 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of asylum seekers and refugees accommodated in Cork city and county; the locations in which they are housed; and the number in each location. [5044/01]

The Directorate for Asylum Support Services which is responsible, inter alia, for meeting the accommodation needs of asylum seekers is currently providing accommodation for them in Cork City and County as follows:

A number of asylum seekers are accommodated in the private rented sector having been granted supplementary welfare allowance on an exceptional basis by the Southern Health Board. Details of such asylum seekers are available from the health board.
The directorate has no function in providing accommodation for refugees who can access the general housing stock on the same basis as Irish citizens.
