215 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason an elderly person (details supplied) in County Kerry is unable to obtain an appointment for a CT scan at University Hospital before October 2001. [5391/01]

The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of hospital appointments is a matter for the hospital concerned based upon clinical priority. I asked the chief executive officer at the Southern Health Board to look into the matter and reply directly to the Deputy urgently.

Michael Ring

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and reply to the Deputy directly.
