Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tribunals of Inquiry.

Jim Higgins

Question:

292 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the files from Government Departments which have been sought by the Flood tribunal. [5835/01]

The Tribunal of Inquiry into Certain Planning Matters and Payments is empowered by respective Oireachtas resolutions to carry out such preliminary investigations in private, as it thinks fit. It would not be appropriate to disclose details of files that have been made available to the tribunal, on a strictly private and confidential basis, in the course of these investigations.
