Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Ulick Burke

Question:

299 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current position of planning of the Gort regional water scheme; the plans his Department has to respond to the urgent need to upgrade the schemes to improve the quality and availability of water to Gort and surrounding regions; and if the necessary funding is available for immediate upgrading of the scheme. [5936/01]

Gort regional water supply scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme, 2000-02, to advance through planning. I understand that Galway County Council is reviewing the preliminary report on the scheme. Further progress with the project must await the outcome of the review.
