Vol. 532 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ophthalmologists' Remuneration.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

192 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department received a submission dated 27 July 2000 from the staff relations officer of the South Eastern Health Board seeking application of the terms of Circular S200/49 in the case of a person (details supplied) who was employed as a temporary surgeon by the board between 1948 and 1984; if he has had an opportunity to consider this submission; if he will sanction the application of Circular S200/49 in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6564/01]

I refer the Deputy to a previous parliamentary question in relation to the case in question, on Wednesday 21 April 1999. In relation to the most recent submission on this matter from the South Eastern Health Board, the position is that the terms of the circular referred to, S200/49 Super annuation of Temporary Ophthalmologists, would not be applicable to the individual concerned.
