Vol. 532 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

360 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science if approval in respect of an application by Presentation school, Wexford for additional accommodation, including a gym, will issue in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6545/01]

An extension of 1,250 metres is currently being planned for Presentation secondary school, Wexford. A stage 5 submission encompassing bill of quantities has been received in my Department in respect of the proposed extension to this school. When the assessment of this documentation is complete and if found to be in order, the issue of approving the invitation of tenders will be addressed.

Question No. 361 answered with Question No. 347.

Seán Haughey

Question:

362 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction the upgrading of the home economics room and the provision of a second home economics room in a school (details supplied) in Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6576/01]

In August 2000 the building unit of my Department requested the management authority of the school to which the Deputy refers to commission a consultant architect's report on the condition of the home economics room. This report, which has only recently been received, is being reviewed within the building unit of my Department. The need for additional facilities at the school will be assessed in light of the school's long-term projected enrolment, the analysis of which is currently proceeding.
