Vol. 532 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Creed

Question:

372 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of a new national school in a town (details supplied) in County Cork; if the additional information requested regarding architectural planning has been submitted; and if a definite decision has been made by his Department regarding provision of a new school or renovation of the existing school. [6735/01]

My Department approved the commencement of architectural planning for the provision of an extension at the school referred to by the Deputy.

My Department's views on an initial proposal prepared by the school's design team have been conveyed to the school authorities and further information has been requested. When the information is received and considered, the project will be progressed further.

It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence. However, the school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
