105 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Defence the plans he has for Magee Barracks, County Kildare; the agreement reached with Kildare County Council regarding the provision of ground for a temporary halting site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6848/01]
I am currently considering the future use of Magee Barracks. At present a portion of the barracks is being used to accommodate asylum seekers and an area of approximately one acre has been made available to Kildare County Council to provide a temporary halting site for members of the travelling community. My considerations will involve consultations with all relevant State and local authority interests, including the local community. I expect to come to a decision in this matter in the near future.
