Vol. 532 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Centres.

Question:

148 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received an application for funding under the national development plan for a primary care health centre (details supplied) in Dublin 6W. [6859/01]

The provision of primary care health centres in Dublin is, in the first instance, a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority.

I have been advised by that authority that the South Western Area Health Board is planning the replacement of the existing health centre in Terenure. The health board is also liaising with Dublin Corporation with a view to providing sheltered housing, extended care and day care services for older people at the site of the existing health centre. This latter development is contingent on the replacement of the existing facility.
The authority has indicated that the plans are currently being costed and that funding will be sought under the national development plan. The authority has also advised that this proposal will have to be prioritised as part of the authority's overall proposals for national development plan funding.
