Vol. 532 No. 2

Written Answers. - Outreach Centres.

Billy Timmins

Question:

247 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science if he received an application from the Dublin Institute of Technology, to establish an outreach centre at Greystones, County Wicklow; if he will provide funding for the setting up of this establishment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7238/01]

I have recently received proposals from the Dublin Institute of Technology in relation to its wish to establish an outreach centre in Greystones, County Wicklow. I have also received correspondence from the town commissioners of Greystones in this regard.

As previously indicated to the town commissioners, the need for an outreach centre in Greystones will be considered in the light of my plans to strengthen the education base in regions which are not well served at present and to establish effective links with higher and further education institutions
