Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

432 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the Fullerton Pollan Dam is to be commissioned; if there are any difficulties with the completion of the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7917/01]

I understand that work on the mechanical and electrical elements of the Pollan Dam water treatment works is nearing completion and that Donegal County Council expects that commissioning of the plant will begin at the end of April.

Question:

433 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in having water supplied to regions in north-west Inishowen as subsidiary schemes to the Fullerton Pollan Dam; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7918/01]

The Desertegney, west Inishowen, water supply scheme, which will utilise the Fullerton Pollan dam as a source of supply, will service the west Inishowen area, including the townlands of Desertegney, Magheramore, Meenagory, Sledrin, Shandrim and Umrycam. The project will also facilitate group scheme development in the region. The scheme has been included in the Water Services Investment Programme 2000-2002 to advance through planning and contract documents are currently being prepared on behalf of Donegal County Council.
