Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Liz McManus

Question:

575 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the clubs or organisations in County Wicklow that have applied for grants under the sports capital grants scheme for the year 2001; the amount sought in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7389/01]

The Sports Capital Programme for 2001 was advertised in December 2000 with a closing date of 9 February 2001 for the receipt of completed applications. In excess of 1,450 applications were received, including 30 applications for County Wicklow (details as requested). Applications will be evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria, which are outlined in the guidelines which accompanied the application form. I intend to announce the grant allocations for the programme as soon as possible after the assessment process has been completed.
