Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Business and Trade Losses.

Donal Carey

Question:

58 Mr. D. Carey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the significant losses for business and trade arising from severe weather conditions earlier this year; and the steps she proposes to help minimise such losses. [6979/01]

I am aware that some concern has been expressed about difficult operating conditions for business arising from severe weather conditions earlier this year. Such problems for business and other interests are, unfortunately, very difficult to predict. Departments, local authorities and business would take into account in their operations factors such as weather conditions. My Department has no financial resources at its disposal to meet any losses incurred by business because of severe weather conditions.
