91 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when agricultural officers who were employed on a temporary basis in 1998 will be made permanent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8324/01]
My Department has requested the Civil Service Commission to consider the holding of a confined competition to have these staff made permanent. The commission is considering the position. I emphasise that the Civil Service Commission is an independent body and I have no function in its decision.
