Vol. 533 No. 2

Written Answers. - Natura 2000.

Sean Fleming

Question:

123 Mr. Fleming asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will provide all information in the natura 2000 reports relevant to County Laois; and if she will further provide copies of research carried out in preparation of these reports. [8449/01]

Natura 2000 sites are sites of European importance which have been proposed as candidate special areas of conservation or designated as special protection areas under the EU habitats directive and birds directive respectively. There are six candidate special areas of conservation in County Laois.

I have made arrangements for the Natura 2000 forms for these sites and an explanatory note, site synopsis and list of qualifying interests in respect of each site to be forwarded to the Deputy. Background research reports are available for inspection at my Department's office if further detail is required
