Vol. 533 No. 2

Written Answers. - Diplomatic Representation.

Austin Currie

Question:

39 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he expects the Government of Cuba to open an office in Dublin soon; if so, if this will be followed by a reciprocal arrangement in Havana; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8277/01]

My understanding is that the Government of Cuba intends to open an embassy in Dublin shortly. Ireland's ambassador to Mexico is concurrently accredited to Cuba. I have no plans at present to open a resident diplomatic mission in Havana.
