Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

218 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on the contents of a letter (details supplied) and indicate if this reflects the health service as it is seen by the 500 people who are discharged by hospitals throughout the country every week and readmitted within one week; and the steps he will take to provide the necessary care to assist these patients. [8969/01]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services to residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
