Vol. 533 No. 3

Written Answers. - Drainage Works.

John Perry

Question:

267 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will intervene with the Office of Public Works on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have the necessary drainage work carried out on this tributary of the River Moy; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9070/01]

The Moy catchment drainage scheme is maintained by the Commissioners of Public Works under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, and I have no function in the matter.

However, I understand from my colleague, Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Deputy Cullen, that the tributary in question is scheduled for maintenance during 2001 and that works will commence when the restrictions relating to foot and mouth disease have been lifted.
