Vol. 533 No. 4

Written Answers. - Patient Statistics.

Richard Bruton

Question:

126 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of elderly people, over 65 years, on a waiting list for hip or cataract operations. [9149/01]

Hospital in-patient waiting list data in the format collected by my Department do not include an age breakdown. However, our latest available figures show that 1,445 people were waiting for hip operations and 1,999 were waiting for cataract operations at 31 December 2000.

Question:

127 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the numbers on waiting lists for public nursing homes from 1995 to 2001 in each health board area. [9150/01]

The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. Accordingly I have asked the chief executive officer of each health board and the Eastern Regional Health Authority to furnish my Department with the information as a matter of urgency. I will forward the details to the Deputy at the earliest opportunity.
