Vol. 533 No. 6

Written Answers. - Development Bodies.

Enda Kenny

Question:

263 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children the name, remit, budget and responsibility, including its headquarters and staff, of any organisation or agency under the aegis of his Department involved in any type of development in the BMW region; the monitoring process involved by his Department in respect of such development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9800/01]

The health boards that cover the BMW region are the North Eastern, Midland, Western and North Western. They have the responsibility for implementing developments in their areas both in regard to the National Development Plan, 2000-2006, and the annual non-capital service plans which set out the developments in each health board area. I have asked the chief executive officer in each of the above boards to reply directly to the Deputy.

My Department will be meeting on a regular basis with the chief executive officer of each health board on the 2001 service plans and is also engaged with each board on the monitoring of the national development plan through regular discussions with the chief executive officers and their management teams.
